Ex- National Football League Athlete Antonio Brown Enters Innocent Response in Murder Attempt Charges
One-time National Football League wide receiver Antonio Brown is returning to Miami to address an murder attempt allegation connected with a shooting that occurred in May, with his counsel submitting a not guilty response on his behalf.
Jail documents in Essex County, New Jersey, reveal that Brown was released on Tuesday morning for his move to the state of Florida. Brown, one of the most popular athletes in the NFL, had relinquished transfer to Florida from New Jersey, in which he was taken after being taken into custody in the city of Dubai.
Brown’s lawyer, Mark Eiglarsh, mentioned in an message that he has previously filed a formal not guilty response to the attempted murder allegation. Brown could be in a Miami courtroom as early as Wednesday early for a release proceeding, Eiglarsh added.
Based on his detention order, Brown is charged of taking a handgun from a security guard after a public figure fighting event in May and firing a couple of bullets at a man he had fought with before. The claimed victim, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, informed police that one shot scraped his nape.
Eiglarsh asserted that Brown was simply defending himself from Nantambu.
“The steps he was forced to take were exclusively in self-defense against the claimed victim’s aggressive actions. Brown was attacked that time and responded within his legal privilege to defend himself,” Eiglarsh commented.
Brown was not promptly detained because originally police did not recognize Nantambu as a affected party. It wasn’t until afterward in May that Nantambu provided a full statement about the situation to police and identified Brown as the shooter, the document states.
From his online updates, Brown had been staying in the city of Dubai for a number of months. In a message after the incident, Brown stated he was safeguarding himself because he was “jumped by numerous individuals who sought to steal my possessions and bring physical damage to me.”
A level two murder attempt accusation in the state of Florida bears a maximum 15-year prison sentence and up to a ten thousand dollar fee in the event of a conviction.
Brown has faced multiple legal problems over the years. He before had been accused of physical attack of a delivery operator, various family violence charges, failure to pay child support and additional events.
Throughout a recent contest with the Buccaneers against the opponents, Brown removed his jersey, protective gear and gloves and ran off the stadium, causing his termination by the franchise and virtually halting his professional career.
